About
Sensing Cities is a project focused on urban ecology and active observation.
Maybe you are reading this on your phone while walking around your city, or perhaps you are indoors and there is a window nearby. Stop and look and find something: a weed growing from the side of a bridge, moss on the sidewalk, mushrooms in the drain, the interweaving shadows of leaves, discarded litter in the local park, a wall with an interesting texture. Take a photo on your phone and include that in your observation. Submit from anywhere in the world.
The observations will be visible to everyone here, and will encourage the art of actively noticing and paying attention to our cities, to view them in a fluid and dynamic light, to think about how they make us feel, what we would change, what we would keep, what makes a city alive, what is the role of nature within cities, what is being done in our cities to allow for green areas and plant and animal life, and what can we do to create such spaces and keep them flourishing and intact.
